In my Travels

In my travels along the way

I met a man that became a friend

He taught me baseball and building forts

We learned to drive and care for cars

Water skiing, farming, the joy of work

We learned about dating,

But that some time guys just have more fun

We went to high school and to college

Where we dated our wives

But time moves along and we move with it

Soon we lose touch with those dear to us

In my travels along the way

I met a man that became a friend

I was ten thousand miles away from my home

But a friend can be found any where

This is what he taught me there

Teaching me how to act in my new found home

Without feeling lost or left alone

I met many others unlike me

Soon they too were teaching me

But time moves along and we move with it

Soon we lose touch with those dear to us

In my travels along the way

I met a man that became a friend

In my work while needing some help

He became a great mentor that severed me well

Taught me about people and what they are like

He seem to be there when ever I was down

Wondering why I chosen this profession

And when I hit a brick wall and could not pass

He simply taught me some more so I could continue my task

But time moves along and we move with it

Soon we lose touch with those dear to us

In my travels along the way

I met a man that became a friend

As began a journey that I never expected

The doctor told me one day that this is enough

No more working it’s time to slow down

But a friend came around and to make sure I was fine

He cared for me and my family too, checks and make sure we could do

Day after day, as the weeks went by as that pressed into months

Cared for and checked by this tender sweet soul

But time moves along and we move with it

Soon we lose touch with those dear to us

I wonder some time as I leave these loved ones

All over the world what will the feeling be

See their sweet faces, feel of their love

And knowing how much they have done for me in the travel of my life

For without them, this life’s travels would have been

Empty and lonely, and painful trip to take

In my travels along the way

I met a man that became a friend

I see Him frequently

Sometime close some time far

But I always recognized Him

It took desire and obedience to see

Often time I noticed my sight could not find

Yet I knew that not far from me He was

As I learn more of Him and of myself

I started to noticed as I grew closed to Him

Seeing my reflection in His Face
